Feng Shui: decoration and installation of floors

Monday, January 31, 2022 11:01 AM

When you decide to reform your home, you must not only consider that the sole objective of this investment is to renew the state of the materials or the structure; Feng Shui can be part of the decoration and you can do it even by installing new floors. On the contrary, this is also a unique opportunity to rethink the usefulness of the space, ensure that it adapts to the needs and objectives of those who will use it, and make the most of its natural features.

In most cases, thinking from this perspective will not increase the value of the reform significantly and, in many others, the difference that it may make in the price will be a justified investment compared to the long-term benefits.

Although it may sound mystical, there are a series of compositional, structural and aesthetic rules that help us feel in tune with the space and that improve the energy of each room, considering not only its use and purpose, but also the personality and tastes of who is going to use it.

About Feng Shui

Feng Shui means "wind and water". Originally from China, it studies the flow of energy or Chi in the landscape to determine how they influence homes and the people who live there. In interior design, Feng Shui is applied through the use of the 5 elements: Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, which are the energy of nature, Chi.

Feng shui is a thousand-year-old Chinese philosophical system, originating in Taoism, which is based on a harmonious and conscious occupation of space. For this, the location, arrangement and shape of the space must be taken into account, carefully consider the orientation towards the cardinal points, since a different energy emanates from each cardinal point, and think about the anticipated temporary changes.

Some feng shui schools study the structure of all types of buildings, such as offices, public spaces and homes, and, more specifically, the spaces we use, such as bathrooms, kitchen, bedroom or living room. In this way, feng shui becomes a guide to take into account in the apartment renovation processes, as it can help us make decisions regarding the location of the rooms, the painting or the decoration of them, to give some examples.

Understanding Feng Shui to decorate our home

This art is based on the Chinese theories about the evolution of the universe. From the perspective of home decoration or architecture, the arrangement of the furniture in its orientation in a dining room or bedroom, for example, or the choice of materials and colors, can help us promote this harmonization.

It is important to understand its mechanism, the reasons why it is applied or the necessary adjustments so that it does not fall into an element of superstition.

Feng Shu helps us to:

  • Is all about seeking tranquility using different techniques.
  • To see things from a different perspective and help us achieve goals.
  • Helps us seek personal peace and family balance.

Tips for decorating according to Feng Shui

The colors influence both the psyche and the physical stage of people. They must be chosen consciously and combined in an appropriate way to make the best use of all their energies…

What colors can we apply in our houses?

The colors used in the home environment are in symbiosis and interconnected with the five elements: Fire, water, earth, wood and metal.

To promote relaxing dialogue, the indicated color is blue. For a more lively dialogue, the preferred colors are orange and red. Orange stimulates joy and red helps lift your spirits.

In the bathroom, the cold ones are preferably used: blue, turquoise and light green. They are refreshing and relaxing because they remind of water.

Relaxing shades like blue and green are ideal for promoting sleep. Less cool colors like pink, salmon or peach can also be used.

The ideal color for the kitchen is yellow, since it is a solar color that gives vigor and energy, in addition to promoting digestion.

It is the place where intellectual activity takes place, which is stimulated by beige and hazelnut colors.

The floors play a fundamental role, since you can use hardwood flooring, metal tile flooring and even carpet flooring to give a different atmosphere to each space. The important thing is that you remember that the soil manages to set the scene and is a determining factor in terms of size and coverage.
